14 Million Nokia Chargers Recalled Over Risk of Electrocution and Burn Injuries
November 9, 2009
Helsinki, Finland - Mobile phone maker Nokia Corp. on Monday has announced a global recall that covers approximately 14 million chargers over risk of electrocution and burn injuries.
In a statement, Nokia Spokesman James Etheridge said the faulty cell phone chargers may cause electrical shock to consumers but added “the company has not yet received any accidents related to the recalled products.”
The global recall includes AC-3E chargers sold in Europe, North America, and South America. However, the massive recall does not include chargers from UK, Argentina, China, Brazil, and other countries that received only a small volume of the said products.
The recalled chargers include AC-3E and AC-3U chargers manufactured between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009 and AC-4U models manufactured between April 13, 2009 and Oct. 25, 2009. Meanwhile, Nokia also urged consumers to check if their chargers are covered by the global recall. The company also promised to replace the defective devices for free.
