EMPLOYMENT LAW: 14 Teachers to be Laid Off in Delano
March 11, 2010
Delano – More teachers will be losing their jobs as school districts across California look for ways to survive the budget crisis.
This time, about fourteen teachers in Delano will be laid off by the High School District.
To add to the woes of the teachers who will be losing their jobs, the district announced that the jobs will not come back because they failed to meet performance standards or complete credential programs.
District Superintendent Rosalina Rivera said that they are trying to survive the budget cuts by dipping into their reserve funds and applying for grants.
However, those would not last long and cuts have to be made.
Those who will be losing their jobs include 4 Science teachers, 4, Math teachers and 4 English teachers.
The last two were not identified.
Even with the decrease in the number of teachers, Rivera assured parents that all students will still receive quality education despite the larger class sizes that the remaining teachers will be handling.
