ROLLOVER ACCIDENT: 2 hurt in Irvine rollover collision

Irvine – Two people suffered serious head injuries early Thursday morning after a rollover accident in Walnut Avenue, the police reported.

Daniel Stirewalt, 23 of Irvine, was driving his green Toyota Tacoma pickup eastbound of Walnut Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle along a curve near Kazan Street, ran into the central divider and tipped over after hitting the road barrier at the other side of the road.

According to Irvine police officer Lt. Joohn Hare, Stirewalt was arrested by the police for driving under the influence.

After the crash, Stirewalt managed to get out of the wreck, but his passenger needed heavy rescue equipment to take him out. Both of them sustained serious head injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
