AVIATION ACCIDENT: Alaska Airlines Plane Returns to LAX after Minor Accident
August 30, 2010
Los Angeles – An Alaska Airlines 737 plane bound for Vancouver B.C. has decided to return to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) shortly after it took off at around 8:46 pm Friday night, newspaper reports said.
Airline spokesman Bobbie Egan said the plane returned after it encountered a minor accident involving a bird that hit the plane fuselage.
After that, the pilots decided to go back and have the plane checked by ground officials to determine if it is safe to continue with the flight. No passengers were reported injured in the accident.
Airport ground officials later determined that there was no damage caused by the impact to the fuselage and that the plane could travel safely.
The plane refueled and later departed again, Egan said.
