EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: Appeals Court Judges Support Discrimination Case by Modesto Latinos

May 5, 2010

Modesto - A panel of appeals court judges have decided to continue the discrimination case filed by Latinos against Stanislaus County and the city.

According to reports, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal refused to junk the case earlier this week.

Hispanic residents alleged that their neighborhood, which is an unincorporated county land, has inadequate sidewalks and sewers and law enforcement officers do not respond to their calls immediately.

A Fresno judge dismissed the case in 2007, stating that no evidence points to discrimination.

Reports said the 9th circuit judges junked the charge that would have ordered for the installation of new drains, sewer lines, and sidewalks.

Meanwhile, a new hearing will be set to review the other charges, especially the discrimination allegation.
