EMPLOYMENT LAW: CA Budget Deficit Causes Massive LA Superior Court Employee Layoffs
March 17, 2010
Los Angeles - Hundreds of Superior Court workers have been laid off to address California’s alarming $79 million budget deficit.
According to reports, pink slips were given to around 329 court workers. This round of layoffs will be followed by two others in the aim of ending the state’s budget problems.
Employees that were terminated include clerical employees, court assistants, court reporters, and child advocacy specialists.
Over 100 employees conducted a rally to voice out their grievances regarding such layoffs, said reports.
At least 16 courtrooms all over the country were also closed due to lack of funds.
