July 8, 2009
California - A technology company has charged industry giants Sony, Apple Inc., and Nintendo with patent infringement lawsuit based on allegation that the three firms have illegally used a patented technology that allows its devices to manage the flow of data effectively.
According to court-affidavit filed by California-based Shared Memory Graphics, Sony PlayStation gaming console, Apple iPod music player, and Nintendo Wii motion-sensitive gaming console have illegally used the company’s two graphic accelerator systems.
These two microprocessors work by managing and balancing the flow of data from different sources, allowing electronic gadgets to process digital data faster and more effectively.
According to reports, the California-based company filed the infringement lawsuit before the US District Court of Arkansas. However, it did not reveal the exact amount of economic damages it is seeking from the three defendants.
When asked for comments about the lawsuit, Apple declined to give any statement.
