Consumer Agency Recalls Kid’s Shoes over Choking Hazard
September 17, 2009
The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) on Thursday announced a voluntary recall on more than 2,000 pairs of infant’s shoes which have rubber pieces on the sole that may detach, posing choking hazards to young children.
The recalled product, Children’s Shoes, with style names “crawlers” and “hazy daze”, were distributed in the country by Clarks(R) retail stores from February to July 2009.
While there has been no reported incident in the US, authorities in the United Kingdom received six reports of shoes’ parts detaching including two cases in which children had put a rubber piece in their mouth.
The recalled shoes, priced at $35 to $40, were made from Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the consumer agency warned people to immediately take the shoes away from young children and return these to a local Clarks(R) retail store for a refund.
Consumers can visit the website www.cpsc.gov to see the list of names and models of the recalled shoes.
