EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: EEOC Files Religious Discrimination Lawsuit against Durham-Based Educational Company
August 19, 2010
Durham - The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has filed a lawsuit against a Durham-based educational company alleging that it performed religious discrimination against a former employee.
According to reports, EEOC sued Measurement Incorporated after a former worker alleged that the company terminated her after she refused to work on Saturdays, which is her Sabbath day.
The commission stated that the company should have accommodated her religious practices.
Reports said EEOC is now asking for reinstatement, back pay, and damages in behalf of the worker. It also wants an injunction relief for the terminated employee.
