Employment Sexual Harassment: Federal Jury Rejects Former NY1 Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

New York, New York – A federal jury has rejected the law harassment suit filed by former NY1 reporter against the cable news station yesterday.

Adele Sammarco claimed that she was the subject of sexual harassment and hostile work environment while working in NY1.

She also claims that she was wrongfully terminated by NY1 executives Peter Landis and Steve Paulus, and former HR manager Elizabeth Fanfant after she reported incidents of harassment by co-worker Gary Ramsay.

The seven men and one woman panel only needed 40 minutes of deliberation to reject Sammarco’s claims against NY1.

One juror said that there might have been some truth to the claims of Sammarco, but there was not enough proof to get the verdict on her side.

In the end, NY1’s defense won out against the claims of Sammarco, which was to show that she was a complainer and that she was terminated because of bad performance.

Top litigator Bettina Plevan said in closing arguments that reporters get their contracts renewed if they had the talent.

She concluded that Sammarco did not.

Sammarco told reporters that she had no regrets and was at peace even though the verdict did not go in her favor.

She said, she felt that she was wronged but she is only one woman against a corporate entity.
