EMPLOYMENT LAW: Fewer Layoffs for DSUSD Employees after Pay Cuts
August 25, 2010
La Quinta – At least eleven workers will be laid off in the Desert Sands Unified School District after the union voted for a tentative agreement that would cut their salary in order to save more than a hundred job positions, reports said.
In the agreement voted 230-to-152 by the California School Employees Association, non-teaching school employees would have to take about 3.5% pay cut in order to lessen layoffs.
The tentative agreement should save about 115 job positions in the DSUSD.
