EMPLOYMENT ISSUE: Jailers OKs Cuts to Avoid Layoffs
February 5, 2010
Fresno – The proposed $1 million concessions is recently voted upon and approved by the correctional officers union in order to avoid looming Fresno County jail layoffs.
The deal approved by the union includes some 5% salary reduction to employees and more from bilingual service providers. The deal will last until the end of the current fiscal year and will also cut off three of their paid holidays.
Fresno County supervisors will be conducting a meeting to further discuss the concession and the jail budget to determine whether some 69 officers who were initially planned to be laid off will retain their jobs.
