Johnson & Johnson Faces Patent Infringement Charges
January 14, 2010Covidien Plc., a medical products company, has filed a lawsuit against Johnson & Johnson, alleging that the latter committed patent infringement in a line of its ultrasonic surgical products.
According to the lawsuit, a number of Covidien’s patents were infringed in Ethicon’s Harmonic line of ultrasound surgical products. The company also wants J&J to stop the line’s production and pay an unspecified amount for the offense committed.
The case was filed by Covidien in the District Court of Connecticut.
J&J was also accused that its Ethicon devices were found to have infringed the same patents in a previous case that was dismissed by the court on an appeal. The court permitted Covidien to file a new case.
