PLANE ACCIDENT: Plane crash in Truckee leaves 2 dead
June 17, 2010
Truckee – Two unnamed people were killed Thursday afternoon when their homebuilt plane crashed near Truckee Tahoe airport in Northern California.
Placer County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Dena Erwin said that the deputy received the call about the accident at around 2:00 p.m. The single-engine RV8 crashed 1 mile northeast of the airport, which is located in both Nevada and Placer counties, for unidentified reasons.
Federal records reveal that the plane was registered to Raymond Rotge of Santa Rosa, but it was not yet confirmed if he was one of the people on board.
Whether the airplane was flying into or out of Truckee Tahoe Airport is still unclear. The Federal Aviation Administration will still investigate the accident.
