Strollers Recalled Due to Reports of Children's Amputated Fingers
Nov. 11, 2009
Washington - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a massive recall of Maclarren strollers after at least 12 incidents of children’s fingers being amputated by strollers were reported.
As a result, CPSC has advised consumers not to use the strollers anymore. One million Maclaren Strollers was issued to be recalled. The stroller’s hinge Maclaren USA, Inc., of South Norwalk, Connecticut has issued a recall of about one million Maclaren Strollers because the stroller’s hinges can amputate fingertips and cause laceration to the child when the stroller is unfolded.
There were 15 reports of children placing their fingers on the hinges. The recalled strollers included single and double umbrella strollers. The models Volo, Triumph, Quest Sport, Quest Mod, Techno XT, TechnoXLR, Twin Triumph, Twin Techno and Easy Traveller were included in the product recall.
The strollers were made in China. Babies “R” Us, Target and other stores sold the strollers from 1999 until this month. Mclaren USA will repair them for free.
