VEHICLE COLLISION: Suspected DUI Driver Arrested after Crash near Goshen
July 15, 2010
Goshen - Authorities have arrested a male pickup truck driver on suspicion of driving under the influence after a collision along Highway 99.
Reports stated that Jesus Garcia, 21, from Orange Cove, was moving northbound along Road 60, south of Avenue 328, when the accident happened.
According to authorities, the driver suddenly knocked down the frontage road fence, went into southbound 99 in front of a Peterbilt, and collided head-on with a big rig truck being driven by Gerald Slattery, 48, from Newhall.
The big rig then jackknifed, causing it to block southbound lanes, said reports.
Garcia and his passenger Jose Medel, 24, also from Orange Cove, were extricated from the pickup. They were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center to be treated for major injuries.
Reports said Slattery was unharmed while his passenger Kathleen Romaro, 48, from San Fernando, was brought to Kaweah Delta Hospital to receive treatment for moderate injuries.
